IKEA goes circular economy
IKEA has a well-functioning business model that definitely has worked and still works very well. You can, on the other hand, question how sustainable it is to encourage and enable customers to consume furniture at the speed that IKEA does. Now they try to do something about it with a new business model, furniture rental.
The new subscription or rental service will launch in 30 countries as soon as 2020. IKEA does not want it to be just another way of financing furniture, but that furniture can be used and reused as many times as possible before they are finally taken care of and the materials are recycled.
Amazon joins Facebook and Space-X
Amazon, the business model predator, are getting in to the satellite internet race. As we have written about earlier SpaceX and Facebook have been developing and testing small satellites that will be sent to space for internet access.
Now it has been spotted that Amazon is following, according to Geek Wire, “Amazon plans to launch a constellation of 3,236 satellites into low-Earth orbit”.
To start this project is about connecting people that don’t have access today. However, it is also claimed that “together, these satellites should cover roughly 95 percent of Earth’s population”.
