Diabetes type 1 which is the partially inherited and not so common type of diabetes basically causes your pancreas to not produce any (or very little) insulin. Todays pancreas implants often fail and require drugs that often have side effects. Now “scientists have turned human stem cells into insulin-producing cells” which could mean a huge breakthrough and potentially a cure!

Huawei officially charged by US government

Early December last year the CFO of Huawei, Wanzhou Meng, was arrested in Canada on behalf of the United States, to face fraud charges. This happened amidst an intense trade war and, as we have written about earlier, something similar to a cyber or spy war. Now the US government has filed charges against Meng and Huawei for a conspiracy to break Iran sanctions. Just a few days earlier;

“US officials have briefed allies that Huawei is ultimately at the beck and call of the Chinese state and has warned the company’s network equipment could contain “back doors” leaving them vulnerable to cyber espionage.”

This (trade/cyber) war is starting to become scary, and not just for business!

TV-streaming continues to grow rapidly

The recently published report “Annual State of the Streaming TV Industry” by Conviva, shows that we are abandoning the traditional TV for streaming. During 2018 on demand TV-streaming increased with 111% and live TV-streaming went up by 65%, counted in viewing hours.

Apart from the fact that we start streaming more and more content rather than watch on traditional TV, the actual TV is still the most common device to use. The Smart-TV stands for 56% of the total streaming hours and the proportion is increasing at the expense of other more mobile solutions.
