Boring Company selected to build Las Vegas tunnel
Elon Musk’s Boring Company, who showed of their first tunnel late last year, have been selected by Las Vegas’ Convention and Visitors Authority to build a “people mover”. It would be a rather small project, but the tunnel could of course be expanded later. Tesla vehicles (among some others) are being considered as means of transportation in the tunnel, and apparently the project could take as little as one year!
USA vs Huawei (China?) takes the next step!
As we have previously written, in December Huawei’s CFO, Wanzhou Meng, was arrested and earlier this year the US government officially filed charges against Huawei and Meng. Now Huawei is suing back, arguing that “it has been unfairly and incorrectly banned as a security threat”. This will force things to go deeper into the relationship between Huawei and the Chinese government, as well as force US government to show what they “have on them”. Interesting to follow!
Strong growth in wearable tech during 2018
The International Data recently published their Worldwide Quarterly Wearable Device Tracker and it shows continued strong growth in wearables in 2018. The market as a whole grew by 27.5% compared to 2017 in terms of the number of units sold and Apple strengthens its leading position and increases its market share from 24.5% to 26.8%.
Smart watches are the largest segment within wearables, however, smart headphones have increased sharply and now stands for 21.9% of the wearable market.
